The Peace Tower Welcome to Colin Welch's

Travel on-line with me to the
Teacher's Institute for
Canadian Parliamentary Democracy
November 1999

Between October 30th and November 6th, 1999, I attended the Teacher's Institute for Canadian Parliamentary Democracy in Ottawa. This institute was created by Gilbert Parent, former Speaker of the House of Commons, to further our knowledge and understanding of Canada's federal parliament. I was among a group of 70 Canadian teachers attending the institute in our nation's capital. We toured many of the government's institutions and met a number of Ottawa "insiders." We also shared ideas on how to teach government - an extraoridinarily important but challenging task.

Each evening I updated my trip with a new web page. You can find a link for each day at the bottom of this page. I hope you'll enjoy the photos and the commentary.

Finally, I would like to thank all of the people at Chilliwack Senior Secondary and School District #33 (Chilliwack) who supported my trip.

As time permits, I'll update my pages and add clickable, full-screen versions of my pictures. Please be patient while the pictures load!!
